Yes I have a KRK Rokit Powered 5 studio monitor ( the older model..i know.. the new ones sound way better ) and the fuse blew out, so i replace the fuse with the spare they provide and "bam" blows again as soon as i turn on the monitor. I have had these for about 4 years and is past the warranty. I could send it to KRK for repair but i heard horror stories about KRK treating their customers very poorly.

If anyone know how i could repair this myself please let me know.. thanks.. I am a recording engineer, i work mostly on Hip-Hop, Rap and R&B.. these are my home studio monitors and i haven't really abused them or played them extremely loud for any extended period of time so this came as a shock to me.

Also, i was not even playing them when it happened, i went to turn it on and it wouldn't come on.. so i checked the fuse and sure enough it was blown.. .. flabbergasted...

Sorry to hear you monitors are causing you problems.  This is directly from the KRK manual:

If the fuses blow immediately upon power up, this indicates a fault condition and the monitor should be returned to KRK for repair.

From my limmited knowledge of electrical engineering, if a fuse is blowing immediately it means that something in the speaker itself is shorting and causing a huge draw in current somewhere. Unfortunately I don't know if there is another option other than actually returning the speaker to KRK for repair.

I would contact KRK and ask them what their out-of-warranty repair fees are.  Plus you can ask them about the specific problem you are having, maybe they can provide you with an answer.  From there you can decide if it's worth possibly gettin gthem repaired or if maybe you should just be looking for a new pair of monitors.

    • Thanks, that's what i expected to hear.. lol.. maybe this was a sign i need to finally upgrade...i hope the next sign is a winning lottery ticket to help me afford the ones i want! lol... thanks for doing research man!

    • Hope it works out for you...if you do have to get new monitors -- then you have a whole new question to ask. ; )

It's a factory glich, they come messed up so dont think U caused it.

I live in the san fernando valley where the KRK shop is, but since i didnt take mine into the factory, the warranty was void. It might even be cheaper for u still if ur warranty is still active, I paid $100 for my procrastinating but its fixed now.

I hope they fixed the glich because i like their sound and they're not too expensive like other brands, I'm thinking of buying a KRK subwoofer.

I would call an electrician and have my power checked out.

    I would also check for a 120/240 V switch

At the back of the monitors there is a slightly hidden red switch which is you voltage regulator. If this is not set right it will cause your fuse to blow. I learnt this tonight by being very stupid and playing with the switch. Yup my fuse is blown. I am searching for an answer on how difficult is it for me to replace the fuse myself before opening the speaker up.

I know this is an old thread, but I came across it because my krk rockit 5 fuse is blown and wanted to fix it myself.

There's an extra fuse in the thingy underneath the slot where you plug in the power cable. Pull it out and you'll see.

I found this, was delighted that I didn't have to go to a store to buy a fuse, swapped it out with a blown one, and it blew as soon as I turned the speaker on. So watch out.

I had the same problem with my krk rokit 5 speaker, i fixed it, i took it in to a tech. It cost 97 bucks to fix.

I say it's worth the fix. Mine was brand new, it worked for like 3 months then it started blowing fuses. I was too lazy to take it in right away so the factory warranty expired. If i bought a brand new one it would cost like 150, plus mine is the older moder which is more square. Right after i bought this model the new round models came out which I think are the rounder models and made a little cheaper in quality but they still sound good.

It's up to u to buy a new rokit or fix it for like $100, mine was still new thats why I fixed it.

The same problem happened to me with KRK 8's. What is the solution?

Take a digital multimeter to the inside of the power supply and start isolating components one at a time.  Google information about metering/testing specific components.  Once the bad component(s) are found, replace.  Google search soldering tips.

Same thing just happened to me. Fuse blew as soon as I powered up when I woke up in the morning.  I replaced the fuze and the same thing happened.  I called KRK and they told me they can replace the entire back panel for $150.  I only payed $150 for the speaker brand new in 2005.  I wont give any more business to KRK again.  Their customer service is horrible!  I am going to just pickup some Yamaha HS80's and a sub.  The mixes will translate better anyway.  They aren't the best sounding monitors, but they will $hit on KRK all day.  And If anything blows, I would like to think their customer service will be better.  They are OG's after all.  -cTp

I have the same problem.  Rather than send my broken one for repair, I'll offer my working one to anyone who wants to give that a shot over repairing theirs.  Very frustrating to see this many folks having the same issue and hearing that KRK won't do anything to fix it.
