Hi and thanks in advance. If I connect a TRS adapter to an xlr cable will the path remain balanced and will I degrade the path in anyway as opposed to buying a "wired" xlr one end TRS on the other end

As long as it's a decent quality adaptor you should not seen a defecation in the signal unless maybe you are running the signal over a very long distance.

one more thing is you have to keep your eye out for bad connections caused by stress on the adapter and the cables.

The signal will remain balanced, if you were using XLR to TS, it would then bcome UNbalanced. As for degradation....you probably won't need to worry about that unless you're running 200ft cables in which case you definitely do not want an adapter.

Those were all great answers but to put it simply any connector is truly defined as the amount of contact points. Both XLR and TRS have 3 contact points therefore they are completely interchangeable (no degradation involved). Being a balanced signal path (with three contact points) a line level signal can easily run 200 feet without any signal degradation (not defecation, and no bathroom humor please).
