I RECORDED A SONG INTO PROTOOLS THEN BOUNCED IT AS AN AIFF FILE -I THEN IMPORTED THAT INTO ABLETON LIVE SO THAT I COULD USE REASON AS A SLAVE TO ABLETON LIVE SO I COULD RECORD KEYBOARD TO THAT SONG -THE ORIGINAL AIFF SOUNDED A LITTLE WIERD WHILE I WAS PLAYING IT IN ABLETON LIVE BUT I DIDN'T THINK TOO MUCH OF IT -AFTER I MADE THE KEYS I RECORDED IN REASON INTO A SONG FILE INSTEAD OF MIDI -I IMPORTED IT INTO PROTOOLS TO THE ORIGINAL MIX BUT THE TIMING WAS COMPLETELY OFF -IT SEEMED LIKE IT WAS CONSTANTLY DROPPING SECONDS -IT WAS A BIG WASTE OF TIME

-I WAS WONDERING DOES THIS PROBLEM HAPPEN BECAUSE A MIDI CLOCK PROBLEM OR IS IT SOMETHING ELSE

-IVE HEARD BEFORE THAT ABLETON DOES HAVE TIMING ISSUES -ANY FEEDBACK WOULD BE AWESOME

From what I got was that you were having trouble with AUDIO files not MIDI, correct? Because I feel that this will be a simple solution.

If the imported track that you brought into Ableton sounded fine in Pro Tools and sounded weird in Ableton, what you should do is start over (you're going to have to rerecord the keys anyway).

Bring the audio file into Ableton into an audio track and select the clip. In the viewer on the bottom of the screen, it'll pull up a more refined look to the clip you just imported. What you are going to do is find the button that says WARP. If I'm correct, it should be selected already and yellow. What you're going to have to do is deselect it.

After you do this, it should sound normal. What is going on here is that when you import audio files into Live, it automatically tries to match the tempo it thinks it is supposed to be to the master metronome setting (auto 120 bpm). So whenever you bring in audio to live and you want to record to it, always deselect the warping engine.

Unless you want to be anal with the metronome and then just set the metronome in Ableton to what it is in Pro Tools. My guess is you should just ignore that step. Let me know if it works or doesn't. I'd love to try to help if I missed the mark here. I am pretty educated in the world of Ableton Live.

    • Wow awesome -finally someone gave me a good answer -thank u -I just checked it out & I'm pretty sure that was the problem -I'm still not too familiar with ableton -thanks alot for the advice
